With The Monochromes Collection, Louis De Poortere reinvents the codes of the traditional Wilton rug through a bold, contemporary approach. In this singular collection, the back of the rug becomes its visible face: the jute backing, usually hidden away, is here brought to the fore and becomes a genuine aesthetic feature.
This raw, authentic construction is elevated by the addition of wool weft threads in vivid colours, revealing all the graphic and textile richness of the weave. The result: rugs with a minimalist yet deeply sophisticated expression, where texture, material and colour converse with subtlety.
A collaboration driven by Scandinavian design
This collection was born from a collaboration with the Swedish studio Folkform, founded in 2005 by designers Chandra Ahlsell and Anna Lovisa Holmquist. Their approach to design combines artistic vision, innovation and craft heritage, with a sensibility deeply rooted in contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics.
