The garden no one wanted to loseThe story goes that, in a camp on the high plains, a woman watched her garden fade with the first cold. Rather than let it go, she chose to weave every flower instead. At the heart of Anatolia, on a field of deep evening-sky purple, here they are: dozens of little blossoms in turquoise, saffron and coral, scattered as if the wind had only just let them fall.
The parade of hearts and butterflies All around, the wide sand-coloured border tells what came next: hearts lined up like a procession, butterflies frozen mid-flight, zigzags rising and falling like a mountain road. Among the nomads, every symbol was a wish — happiness, protection, fertility — slipped into the weave for whoever would one day set foot on the rug.
A weave that forgets nothingAnatolia is a flatwoven kilim, pile-free, made the way it was under the tent: light, reversible, honest in its drawing. Its natural fringes are the signature of the hand that made it. To bring it home is to invite in that garden that refuses to wither — and every good intention knotted into it.
