The river that never ran straight

They say that a river once flowed through Anatolia so winding it endlessly retraced its steps: the Meander. The Greeks, fascinated, drew from it a frieze with neither beginning nor end, a symbol of eternal renewal. This rug takes up that tracing: green and cream Greek keys that coil, square after square, like so many loops of the river.

A rigour worn proudly

The deep green and ivory checkerboard is framed by vivid borders — bold red, golden chain, black-and-white checkered friezes — in the manner of ancient cloths. A graphic, sunlit composition, at once scholarly and joyful, that leaves no eye indifferent.
