The standing stones

They say that in the middle of a plain, pale stones had stood for so long that no one remembered who set them there, or why. Stèle has woven that mystery: ivory blocks in relief, soft and rounded, set on a sand-coloured fibre ground, like a row of standing stones seen from above.

Relief rather than colour

Here everything plays out in the material: the high, creamy pile of the shapes catches the light, while the flat linen-coloured weave lets it slip away. A few darker little rectangles punctuate the composition like secret markers. A tactile work, understated and sculptural.
