The figure is the freezing point -0° Celsius- and refers to the chilling winds of the New York late Fall and Winter period, when wind chills and even polar vortexes bring frost, snow and ice to the city.

The pattern evokes the marks left by the skaters on the ice of the Wollman Rink.
